Nosotros Vineyards is atop Mount Veeder in Napa, California. Its beginnings go back to 1964 when Ethel and Arnold Menzel purchased the land when Arnold retired from the Air Force and after their exhaustive search, they determined Napa was the place to retire and begin their second careers as farmers and grape growers. As they enjoyed their new life on Mount Veeder, they prospered in many ways; great friends, abundant crops, and a wonderful family including many nieces and nephews. One of their favorite nieces was Arlene, the first daughter of Ethel's younger sister, Ruth, and her husband, Harry. Arnold passed away in 1999 and Ethel, in her mid 80's, could no longer keep up with the duties of the farm. Arlene moved from Florida to help Aunt Ethel with the management of the old vineyard and continue her career in the managed healthcare industry in California.
Arlene re-met her future husband Richard at a high school reunion in 2003 and shortly thereafter they married in 2005. Living in California they purchased the old vineyard and became "growers" in one of the best wine-producing regions in the world. They replanted the old vineyard and began growing lush cabernet sauvignon grapes on Mount Veeder. They have sold their grapes to Hall Wines, Black Stallion Winery, Y. Rousseau Wines, winemakers at William Harrison Winery, and today, they work together with Stressed Vines Cellars to produce superb Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
Today, after fourteen years the vineyard continues to produce top-quality clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and Arlene and Richard Winge enjoy much of what Ethel and Arnold Menzel did decades ago; wonderful family including many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews along with many great friends. Together they work nurturing their lush Mount Veeder vineyard which is filled with the life and love of the land which provides the fruit that produces superb wine.
